"The Song of Songs" is a series of four cloths made under impressions and on motives of works of Rembrandt. The inspiration for this series was drawn from Rembrandt's painting "The Jewish bride", seen by the artist in Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.

“Precious fabrics” are the tissues of human feelings, the artistic embodiment of the facets of Plato's Love: “A premonition of Love”, “Heavenly Love”, “Perfect Love”, “Earthly Love”.

What a moonstruck idea to sing about Love in the XXI-st century. Songs about it all are already sung and verses are created. Love hasn't disappeared, it remains the main theme of human passions, pleasures and sufferings, but it is not sung about the way it used to be sung about it earlier, in the distant past. Then, during cruel times of tsar Solomon, existence of an inexplicable, gentle and insuperable by any forces mutual attraction of two people surprised a man, and forced him to compose songs almost equal in force and beauty to the most mysterious feeling.

Rembrandt addressed in the pictures to antiquated plot for finest of his works are devoted to the great mystery of Love. Everyone, who at least once looked at his David and Urii, or tried to understand the nature of a gold luminescence of the figure of Esther, or admired meekly crossed hands of the Jewish bride, should feel that it is about Love. Verses of Old Testament, as a musical tuning fork, exclude from Rembrandt's painting the slightest false intonation; they lead his brush along the way of the darkest depths of passion to fine heights of honour.
Tenderness lives on a surface of his cloths flickering with gold, but unknown force is hidden in a dense chasm of colour.

The artist Elena Tkachenko has caught the sound of this tuning fork and has followed it in her works. Through the interlacing of thousand the finest threads connected in picturesque cloths, she has reflected the secret and pleasure of Love. Colour and light of these threads have become her voice and her song.
One might think it is daring to try and speak about Love when it has already been glorified in Solomon’s songs and Rembrandt’s paintings. But can there be an artist without bravery and art without daring?
